Head on over to the Estelle Van Meter Multi-Purpose Center for a presentation on why a plant-based diet is optimal for health. Former NFL football player and vegan activist, David Carter, will be speaking on oppression in the food system. Guests will also enjoy a plant-based meal from Sage Vegan Bistro. The Vegan Mos will be at MooShoes in Silver Lake signing copies of their cookbook, NYC Vegan. In addition, World of Mouth Truck will be there serving up delicious vegan food. So come on out and grab a signed copy of the book, shop for vegan shoes, and enjoy some great food!
Want to learn a new skill this weekend? Check out SunCafe's raw food, vegan cooking class, part of their weekly series happening each Saturday. This Saturday is one of their basic classes, where guests will learn to make Dozen Salad Dressings, Tomato Basil Soup, Chocolate Date Truffles, Cheddar Cashew Cheese/Raw Mac n Cheese. Saturday is National Soft Serve Day and Frozen Fruit Co is celebrating by giving everyone who stops in two free toppings with the purchase of a delicious vegan and sugar-free soft serve.
Sunday, August 13
The Gentle Barn hosts public tours every Sunday between 10am-2pm. You'll be able to hang out with the animals and see all the amazing work this nonprofit is doing. Bonus, Frankenstand is there every Sunday between 10 and 2 serving up delicious gourmet vegan franks. Tickets are $20/adult and $10/kid. Click here to purchase your tickets.
