California Adventure is pretty much the same as Disneyland, in the sense that, you might not expect them to have a lot of vegan food choices, but they actually do. Modifications may be necessary for some of them, but there are a lot more options than just salads and fruit cups. And just remember, if you’re ever unsure about a certain item, just be sure to check with a cast member, or check labels.

Just updated my blog (link in bio) with more info about vegan options in the Carthay Circle Lounge 😋 Swipe to see all the photos! 1) Carthay Summer Hummus with pickled artichokes, baby squash, roasted peppers, and garlic naan (the naan itself is vegan, but it usually comes buttered, so ask for no butter) 2) The modified Poke bowl with papaya, avocado, cucumber, cilantro lime rice, charred bell pepper, and ancho chili vinaigrette. The server double checked with the chef and said that is a coconut milk based sauce, so the modifications are to remove the fish and fish eggs. 3) The Summer Garden Roll with hummus, portobello mushrooms, red peppers, and a modified sauce (the dragon sauce isn't vegan, but the chef has an alternate vegan sauce) 4) There are so many vegan cocktails on the menu, but today I just went for the Rose Petal soda (non-alcoholic) with an edible sugar rose petal in it! Carthay Circle Restaurant (upstairs) has a bigger menu and the chef has a special veggie tower dish that he makes for vegans! Update on the new menu at Cocina Cucamonga: This is the Cocina Bowl with extra beans. Normally you get a choice of meat or "papas," which are potato fritters that are pre-made with cheese in them. I asked if it was possible to make a batch without cheese, but they said that they are all made in advance. I tried to get them to add guacamole to this since we took out the meat, but they were staunch in their "no free guacamole" stance. You can buy a side of guacamole and chips though. You could also get this bowl as tacos, just with no meat or papas and extra beans. I think they were trying to make the menu a little more interesting, less generic, but I think the old menu was a bit better for vegans. This one is fine, but it's unfortunate that they offer a vegetarian option that is impossible to veganize. If you have a moment, please join me in writing an email encouraging them to offer a vegan option, not just a vegetarian one. The email form is at www.disneyland.disney.go.com/help/email . I double-checked about the beans and rice being vegan. A chef told me that the beans are just cooked in oil and onions, not in lard or butter.
