8 Places to Get Vegan Burritos in Los Angeles

Do you love burritos? Are you looking to expand your vegan burrito horizons? Then read on to discover some great spots where you can find vegan tortilla-wrapped goodness in the LA area.

Cena Vegan

Various locations - click here for their event calendar

Cena Vegan won not just one the 2017 VegOut Awards, but three. So, it shouldn’t come as a shock that this fully-vegan cart, serving up Latin American flavors, makes good burritos. And not only do they just have one burrito option, but along with the refried beans, rice, pico, and salsa that comes in every burrito, you also get to choose from either carne asada, pollo asada, al pastor, or barbacoa to stuff your huge flour tortilla full with.

Sharky’s Woodfired Mexican Grill

Multiple Locations

Those who want a more-healthified burrito may want to hit up their closest Sharky’s. This vegan-friendly, Mexican chain restaurant has an off-the-menu “AJ Burrito,” which is a low-fat whole-wheat tortilla filled with organic brown rice, black or pinto beans, steamed broccoli, and guacamole. They’ve also got an “Organic Tofu and Veggies” burrito that you can get in the low-fat whole-wheat tortilla, or in a flour tortilla (both are vegan). Plus, they’ve got a great salsa bar.

Tocaya Organica

Multiple Locations

While not all-vegan, organic Mexican restaurant, Tocaya, has lots of vegan options. Basically, for all their different mains (e.g. tacos, bowls, burritos), you choose a style, and pick a protein and cheese to go with it. All three burrito styles can be vegan if you choose vegan protein and cheese options. Vegan proteins are their “Vegan Picadillo,” a pea-based protein with veggies, and spicy “Adobo Tofu.” For vegan cheese, there’s vegan mozzarella and vegan chipotle jack.

Organix LA

Eagle Rock

Organix is an alternative grocery store, with a fully-vegan deli. For burritos, they’ve got the “Poncho,” which has a filling of vegan carne asada made of mushrooms. They’ve also got the “Gringo,” with grilled vegan chicken. And they have their “Barbacoa,” which features vegan barbacoa made of jackfruit. In addition to the “meats,” the burritos have other usual fillings like veggies, rice, beans, etc.

Trejo’s Tacos

Multiple Locations

Trejo’s Tacos by Danny Trejo is not fully vegan, but has a good selection of vegan options, including two burritos, the “Jackfruit Burrito,” which consists of jackfruit, beans, rice, slaw, pico, avocado cream, and tortilla strips, and the “Mexi-Falafel Burrito,” a burrito filled with falafel, beans, rice, kale, cashew cream, and pickled onions. For both, there’s also the option of getting it wet with ranchera sauce and/or adding guacamole, each at additional charges.

The Grain Café

Mid-City & Long Beach

The Grain Café is an all-vegan café that has a burrito called the “Wet Burrito.” This is a tortilla filled with your choice of chicken, tempeh, or a burger patty, plus black beans, brown rice, guacamole, cheese, red bell pepper, caramelized onions, and lettuce – all wrapped up and topped with salsa roja or verde and melted cheese. And, you get to choose from black or pinto beans, plus Spanish rice to be served on the side.

The Grain Cafe is where it’s at. Solid Mexican food. 🔥 Will be a frequent visitor.

Sea Casa

Westlake Village

Although they’re not right in LA or totally vegan, Sea Casa in Westlake Village, off the 101, is pretty vegan-friendly, with two vegan burritos to choose from. Their “Vegan Burrito” is a whole-wheat tortilla stuffed with tofu, black or pinto beans, brown rice, grilled veggies, and guacamole. And their “Spinach and Quinoa Burrito” is a whole-wheat tortilla filled packed with organic quinoa, black beans, spinach, and guacamole.

Veggie Grill

Although Veggie Grill's regular menu doesn't have a burrito on it, their current seasonal menu features the XX Fire-Roasted Chickin' Burrito. It consists of grilled chickin', fire-roasted peppers and onions, cilantro rice, fire-roasted salsa, vegan crema, and cheddar 'cheese' in a toasted flour tortilla, served with chips and avo-salsa.
