In-N-Out Burger: Vegan Style

So, all your meat-eatin' rabbit huntin' relatives from Oklahoma are in town for the weekend and decide to make a beeline for the Weschester In-N-Out as soon as their plane lands. There is bad news and good news. The bad news is that the vegan options are skim. The good news is that you won't starve. Here's how to order:

  • If you ask for a "Veggie" with ketchup and mustard instead of spread, you'll get a hamburger bun (vegan), with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, ketchup and mustard. To spruce it up a little bit, add grilled onions.
  • If you ask for french fries, you'll get...french fries. Again, you can make them more exciting by adding ketchup, mustard, and/or grilled onions.

Yep, that's all, folks. If you're super crafty, you can pack a vegan patty in your (or your Aunt Patty Sue's) purse and throw it on after. For some reason In-N-Out won't put fries on the Veggie for you, you have to order them separately and create your own fry-burger if that's what you're craving. Sigh. Maybe one day the California icon will sell REAL veggie burgers and make all our vegan dreams come true.
