3 Places to Find Vegan Cupcakes in Kalamazoo

Who doesn’t love a cupcake? We here at VegOut are serious about our vegan treats. But finding quality vegan desserts can sometimes prove a challenge. Relax! We’ve got you covered. Consider this your go-to guide for those scrumptious frosted delights. You’re welcome.

Water Street Coffee Joint

Multiple Locations

What do mango, strawberry, and pretty pink swirls have in common? They all go together to make up the current Vegan Mango Strawberry cupcake at Water Street Coffee Joint. We hear that plans are in the making to add chocolate, vanilla, banana, and lemon cupcakes to the menu as well. These, along with the mango, will rotate through the four locations as Water Street changes its menu for the seasons.

Not quite yet, but soon, you should be able to preorder in both regulars and minis. And can we just say…..best cupcake in town!

Bert’s Bakery

4419 S. Westnedge Ave.

Tucked in a strip mall on the corner of South Westnedge and Kilgore, you find a humble little shop called Bert’s Bakery. We spoke with Amy, one of the owners, about her vegan cupcakes. Available in both vanilla and chocolate with vanilla frosting, she can also do preorders and even adjust for some allergies. Give her plenty of notice, though, because she rocks a strong wedding and event business. Cupcakes come in one size and are kept in the freezer display on the showroom floor.

We know this a piece on cupcakes but we got very distracted by the vegan Sorbetto selection! In mango, strawberry, and black cherry, now you can indulge when your friends want to go for a frozen treat.

Earth Fare

5070 S. Westnedge Ave.

Why not add cupcakes to the grocery list? Go on, you know you want to! Not only does EarthFare carry a rich supply of vegan staples, they also provide egg- and dairy-free cupcakes baked fresh each day.

You won’t find Earth Fare’s vegan cupcakes in the pretty display case, however. You have to ask for them. They keep them frozen in the back. You can get them in both vanilla and chocolate with either vanilla or chocolate frosting. No frills and typical grocery store bakery taste (sugar overload, anyone?), but they can be preordered for events in both regular size and minis. EarthFare’s cupcakes are a great, reasonably priced option for birthdays and picnics.
