Want to join in the craft beer fun but just not sure what’s vegan and what’s not? No worries. We worked up an article not long ago on Vegan Brew in Kalamazoo. You can find animal-friendly options at many of the local hot spots.
But what if you’re looking for a relaxing evening with friends, a little dinner, and some down time? You want everything in one spot. And you don’t want to think too hard about what you can eat and what you can’t. Check out One Well Brewing!
Hiding in a nondescript strip mall on Portage St., One well offers pinball, beer, board games, conversation, and a funky vibe. While the menu is limited, it sidesteps the typical bar food offerings in favor of more unique dishes, including some that are vegan-friendly. Try the Hummer, vegan style. Order it without the chicken and you get a wrap that’s packed with homemade hummus, spinach, banana pepper, onion, and roasted red pepper. In addition, daily specials utilize local, seasonal produce.
One Well also offers a price break for those choosing to veganize omnivorous options. Where does this happen anywhere but here? Ever pay the meat price for a salad when you order without the chicken and the bacon? Not at One Well. They have one price listed in their menu for carnivores and another for herbivores. Heck yes!
You also have the option of substituting vegan cheese for dairy cheese. While some dishes come premade and can’t be subbed out, others are open to altering. We went with nachos with vegan cheese instead of the regular cheese. We had these along with the Opener, a blonde light-bodied ale, the first beer to be brewed at One Well. You can relax about any of the beers here. All One Well beers are vegan!
So whether you declare this you’re new local hangout or just stop in to give it a look, check out One Well Brewing and tell them VegOut sent you.
