While Indy’s vegan scene has so much to offer, sometimes a mini road trip is just what the doctor ordered. We headed down to Nashville, Tennessee and discovered The Wild Cow Vegetarian Restaurant.
The Wild Cow is located in the heart of East Nashville. It offers a fun, hip, and casual environment and serves delicious plant-based fare. Everything on the menu is vegan, however some meals have the option to add dairy cheese. As usual, we kept it vegan and stuck with Follow Your Heart nondairy products.
Have you ever gone to a restaurant and wanted to order the entire menu? We know the feeling. During our trip, we didn’t hold back and tried a little bit of everything. We started with a classic appetizer, Nachos. This platter was served with seasoned black and pinto beans, vegan queso, salsa verde, tomatoes, red onions, rice, and vegan sour cream. For good measure, and because we wanted variety, we tried a side of the Spinach and Artichoke Dip topped with cashew parmesan and served with vegan pita. Both apps were delicious.
In addition to several mouthwatering appetizers, the menu features an array of creative salads served with house-made dressings. We had to try the small Caesar salad, and boy was it good! The Wild Cow also serves up entrée bowls, sandwiches, wraps, and tacos. Speaking of tacos, we tried the Peanut Tempeh Tacos. With sautéed kale, peanut sauce, avocado, slaw, and peanut tempeh, what’s not to love? The restaurant offers a few other taco varieties, and a sampler platter that allows you to try them all. If you have a sweet tooth, The Wild Cow offers daily desserts, smoothies, and vegan milkshakes. Yum! We’re planning our next trip as we speak.
